Plain ales from fermented barley wort were undoubtedly made in the pre-hop era. However, where possible herb flavourings would have been added to offset the bland flavour of plain ale.
1 3/4 lb Pale Malt
1 1/2 lb Carapils
1 1/2 gram each of Myrica Gale (Sweet Gale), Ledum Palustre (Marsh Rosemary) and Achillea Millefolium (Millfoil or Yarrow)
